The Stephanie M. Jackson Foundation is rooted in the life, resilience, and God-anchored spirit of Stephanie M. Jackson a woman who is very much alive, very present, and actively shaping this foundation with her voice, her wisdom, her humor, and her strength.
To know Stephanie is to know light, laughter, and love.
She is the kind of woman who walks into a room and every corner is lit.
Not because she tries.
Not because she demands attention.
But because God placed something in her that simply cannot be ignored.
Stephanie is, and has always been, bigger than life.
She is a motivator.
She is a truth-teller.
She is tough on the outside and sweet as pie on the inside.
She will push you, cheer for you, correct you, love you, and root for you all at the same time.
She has encouraged friends, family, sorors, coworkers, and complete strangers to grow, stretch, and walk boldly into their purpose.
A proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Stephanie carries the elegance, strength, and sisterhood of her organization in everything she does.
She is a graduate of Edward Waters College, holding a Bachelor’s in Social Work and a Master’s degree in Education, specializing in curriculum and community development.
From the classroom to the workplace to the living room, Stephanie is a walking ministry of encouragement.
In 2022, Stephanie was diagnosed with breast cancer.
What followed tested her faith in ways she never imagined.
The road was long.
The pain was real.
And as the disease metastasized into her bones, her capacity was stretched, her strength was challenged, and her relationship with God deepened in profound, intimate ways.
Yet through every hospital stay, every setback, every medication change, and every moment of uncertainty — Stephanie remained Stephanie.
Still shining.
Still loving.
Still encouraging.
Still fighting.
Still trusting God.
Still speaking life over others even while battling for her own.
And beside her through it all was Latonya — not just as a best friend, but as a caregiver, advocate, emotional anchor, decision-maker, and safe place. Their bond became a living testimony of God’s faithfulness and the power of sisterhood.
This foundation rises from that reality.
From the late nights.
From the whispered prayers.
From the moments of fear and the moments of victory.
From the emotional weight caregivers often carry alone.
From the need for support that the world rarely sees.
From the understanding that caregiving is holy work — and caregivers need care too.
This foundation is being built with Stephanie, not merely in her honor.
Her lived experience — her fears, her joys, her breakthroughs, her tears, her courage, her laughter, her faith — guides every decision we make and every resource we create.
This is her testimony.
This is her faith walk.
This is her legacy, created while she is here to speak into it.
And we honor God for every moment He allows us to walk this journey with her.
To everyone reading this,
I created the Stephanie M. Jackson Foundation out of love — deep, personal, God-given love. I have had the honor of being the primary caregiver for my best friend, my sister in spirit, Stephanie Jackson, throughout her journey with metastatic breast cancer. And because she is alive, present, and actively adding her voice, we are building this together in real time.
Caregiving is sacred work. It is spiritual work. It is work God assigns to certain people because He knows their strength even when they don’t feel strong.
When Stephanie became ill and her mother, being 83 years old, needed care herself, there was a real need for someone to step in. God positioned me to be that person — and I stepped into that role not out of obligation, but out of purpose. And as challenging as the role can be, it has been one of the most fulfilling assignments God has ever given me.
Caregiving is not only about medicine, charts, and appointments. It is about prayer. It is about presence. It is about absorbing someone’s fear and pouring peace back into them. It is about hearing the doctors clearly and being able to translate that information with clarity and calm. It is about protecting someone’s dignity and advocating for them when they cannot advocate for themselves.
We started this foundation because we realized something very clear:
Caregivers need care too.
And so my prayer is that the Stephanie M. Jackson Foundation becomes a place where caregivers feel supported, encouraged, fed, organized, prayed for, and uplifted.
From my heart to yours,
Latonya Hines
